Influence of the geometry of electron-beam treatment in the melting mode on the TiNi SMA quenched subsurface structure

2020
In this work, samples of a TiNi-based alloy, which were subjected to a pulsed low-energy high-current electron-beam treatment (LEHCEB) in the melting mode were studied. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of the geometry of electron-beam treatment on the structure and stress-strain states localized in the TiNi alloy surface region. It was found that under equivalent LEHCEB treatment modes, but different orientations of the sample surface with respect to the electron beam, the structural-phase composition and the stress-strain state in the impact area change, and the level of residual stresses in the surface area changes by a 1.5-fold.
