High-strength lightweight refractories produced by bloating during firing

1976
A mix was developed for the production of lightweight refractories by bloating them during firing. It is suggested that the additional source of the gaseous phase be in the form of a combination additive of magnesium and sodium sulfates in the proportion 3/2–2/3. The salting-out of the additive is prevented by adding orthophosphoric acid to the mix. An analysis was carried out of the influence of certain technological factors on the bloating process.
