A method of driving a short-circuiting valve of a turbine of an internal combustion engine

The invention relates to a method of controlling an internal combustion engine (1) having a turbine (32) followed by a catalytic converter (33A), and a pipe of short-circuiting (35) of said turbine provided with a control valve (36). According to the invention, the method comprises the steps of: a) establishing a diagnosis of the operating state of the catalytic converter, b) deriving from said diagnosis a seed value of a temperature at which said catalytic converter is primed, c) measuring an actual value of said temperature, d) comparing said actual value to said seed value, and e) control the opening and / or closing of said control valve depending on the result of the comparison in step d).
