SMM-HXIS thermal deformation analysis

The distortion and misalignment of the solar maximum mission hard X-ray spectrometer were calculated for a number of thermal load cases. Detailed NASTRAN temperature impact was made for the elements of the collimator, the instrument support plate, and connecting bats. The output from the thermal model supplied unique temperatures for most of the elements. Results are presented for distortion of the collimator tube and instrument misalignment.
