Atención a usuarios de cocaína desde un centro de atención a drogodependencias (CAD-4) Medical care for cocaine users ni a drug dependency health care center (CAD-4)

Objective: to present the Drug Dependency Municipal Center's (Madrid) work regarding the population requesting treatment for their nasal or inhaled cocaine abuse or depen- dency. This group is representing a growing de- mand of treatment during the last 5 years in our Center. Methods: we describe a sample of cocaine abu- sers or dependents receiving treatment during this period. We also describe the intervention model (protocol) designed and developed to care all the competency areas affected by the use of cocaine from a pharmacological and psychotherapeutical perspective. Results: we found a good effectivity level of our protocol. About 75% discharges with remission of the drug addiction diagnosis were made. We also found a good efficiency level due to the shorter in- tervention the protocol requires, and the minimum need of human, material and complementary re- sources it needs.
