Werner’s syndrome is a rare premature ageing syndrome caused by mutations in the WRN gene. The disease spectrum shows sclero edematous skin changes, with chronic ulcerations, cutaneous wound-healing impairment and calcification. Juvenile cataract, arteriosclerosis, a higher risk of malignancy and diabetes mellitus are also often found.
