The implementation of the inverse methods of Tarantola (1984) and Mora (1987) were based on reverse time extrapolation schemes using the two-way wave equation. One of the motivating arguments was the capability of multiple removal. The idea has been mentioned by several authors but no examples were ever given before Youn and Zhou (2001) report an application of prestack
