Arylsulphatase activity of brain

1963
Abstract Former investigations have demonstrated the presence of arylsulphatase activity in the whole brain of man and some animals. In this paper a study is published on the distribution of arylsulphatase activity in some parts of calf brain. This activity is found to be relatively high. Arylsulphatases are most active in the white matter, and the activity of arylsulphatase B is twice as high as that of arylsulphatase A. No reliable interpretation, however, can be given before more is known about their specific role in the brain.
