High-energy electron capture and stripping in gas targets

Electron capture and stripping cross sections of 3He ions in N2, Ne and Ar gas targets have been measured at 68, 99 and 130 MeV using a new method. While capture cross sections show discrepancies with available theories, the stripping cross sections can be explained fairly well by calculations of Gillespie (1978, 1980).
