Power factor correction of consumers with high distortion of voltage and current

In this paper the results of investigation in the area of power factor correction of consumers with current and voltage distortion are presented. The corresponding values of the voltage and current harmonics are greater than the highest admissible values for capacitors and corresponding filters reactors. The original procedure, which enables successive decreasing of harmonic distortion by switching the capacitor sections, is presented. By using the proposed method, the voltage distortion is decreased by two times. In such way, the corresponding voltage and current harmonics are under the highest admissible values for low-and medium-voltage networks.
