Resección transuretral de próstata bajo anestesia local. Comentario editorial

2000
Transurethral resection of the prostate (T.R.U.P.) is one of the most frequent interventions in urology. As usual it is done under spinal or general anesthesia. Local anesthesia has been described but it is not usually used. We practiced 35 T.R.U.P. in the period comprehended between March 1996 and June 1998. Introducing a modified uretheral cateter in our cystoscope we infiltrate with 2% lidocaine without epynephrine the points to be resected. In three patients has been required neuroleptoanaelgesia to complete the procedures. All the practices were weli tolerated and the evolution of the patients was satisfactory.
