Pipeline fitness-for-purpose certification

2000
Identification, evaluation, and mitigation of technical risk, forming part of a methodology known as integrity management, is now generally accepted as good practice by pipeline owners and operators. Managing a pipelines' integrity via pressure containment alone, however, leaves many risks unattended. The presence of such risks can be a major contributor to sub-optimal business performance. Pipeline certification embraces integrity management and examines the current state of the pipeline with knowledge of its characteristics from initial conception, design, construction, operations; and environmental impact. This represents industry best practice.
