RUDDER STEERING SYSTEM CONTROLLED BY PSEUDO-RANDOM BINARY SIGNS

This paper introduces the basic principles and application of the PRBS generator which is used for the identification of coefficients of ship motion equations. Brief descriptions are given of the steering gear and the gyroscopes for recording output signals of course and angular velocity. Some results of ship model experiments with the PRBS system are presented and discussed.
