Fundamentals of log analysis. Part 12: Integrating core data with log analysis results

1997
Throughout the first 11 articles in this series, the authors discussed the need to compare log analysis results to ground truth data that is available through core analysis. Log analysts integrate core analysis into the log interpretation (such as core-determined lithology and grain density) and use other core information to validate the results (such as porosity). Additional core data necessary for log interpretation can be measured on cores previously collected and archived, such as cation exchange capacity (CEC) and shaliness. This article discusses some of this data and how it can be integrated into the log analysis to improve results.
