Mitigation of Threats to the Continuation of Marine Recruit Training Posed by a Category 4/5 Influenza Pandemic

Abstract : The challenges to continuity of recruit training during a Category 4/5 influenza pandemic are so formidable, and the non- pharmaceutical interventions to counter them so limited, complicated, and prone to error in implementation that we reluctantly conclude that the most sensible course, in the absence of an effective vaccine or reliable and safe antiviral prophylaxis, may be to rely on personnel actions other than recruit input to maintain force levels during a pandemic this severe.
