El Currículo nicaragüense para la enseñanza de la lectura en la modalidad multigrado

The study analyzes how the national curriculum orientates early literacy teaching in mixed classrooms, and how teachers implement those orientations within their own reality. In order to do so, a documentary analysis was carried out on the national curriculum, having as a base, the theoretical framework provided by solid evidence in the field of early literacy and mixed-classrooms pedagogy. Then, a case study to comprehend how teachers adapt the national curriculum to their classes was conducted. For this second point, six mixed schools located in rural areas of the country were visited. Teacher interviews were conducted, as well as classroom observations to determine the influences of the curriculum on the educational practices of teachers. As a result of this study, many improvement areas related to early literacy and mixed-classroom approaches on the national curriculum were identified. It was found out that this curriculum tends to disengage effective teaching practices on this modality
