The extraction technology of carotenoids from papaya.

Objective:Investigate extraction methods of carotenoids from papaya.Methods:Extraction of carotenoids from papaya flesh was studied by using different solvent and bonding with single factor test and orthogonal test method.Results:The optimal conditions of extraction on flesh was found:The temperature of 35 ℃ for 100 min with 95% ethanol,the ratio of material to liquid 1∶13.Conclusion:Extracting carotenoids from flesh with 95% ethanol,Then extracting carotenoids from residue of the above papaya futher more using petroleum ether,the total content of carotenoids in papaya flesh was(73.3±8.0)μg/g.
