CHLORPROPAMIDE TREATMENT IN DIABETES INSIPIDUS

1967
Abstract Chlorpropamide produced a pronounced selective diminution in urinary water output in all of seven patients with diabetes insipidus. No effect could be obtained in two overhydrated controls. The pattern of antidiuresis was similar to that induced by vasopressin. When vasopressin was administered to patients with diabetes insipidus on chlorpropamide, the antidiuretic effect was followed by a lengthy diuresis. The follow-up is now 1-6 months and treatment remained effective without untoward side-effects in all patients.
