The present invention discloses a class of herbicidally active O, O- dialkyl alpha] (substituted phenoxy butyryloxy) phosphonates and preparation and use thereof as an active ingredient of a herbicide. The compounds of this invention significantly inhibited the growth of monocotyledonous or dicotyledonous plants can be used as active ingredients of herbicides.
