Oral Pyogenic Granuloma in a 5 Year Old Child - A Case Report

2011
Pyogenic granuloma is one of the inflammatory hyperplasias seen in the oral cavity. The name pyogenic granuloma is a misnomer since the condition is not associated with pus and does not represent a granuloma histologically. It predominantly occurs in the second decade of life in young females. It shows a striking predilection for the gingiva accounting for 75% of all cases. Anterior areas are more frequently affected than posterior areas. This article presents a case-report with pyogenic granuloma occurring in the buccal mucosa of a 5 year old male child which was found to be painless and asymptomatic.
