Analysis and Prediction on Medical Costs of Coronary Heart Disease Among Urban Residents in Guangxi

Objective To investigate and predict on the medical costs of CHD and analyze the causes of costs inflation, thus providing the best way and suggestion of the optimal strategy for the costs inflation control at present stage. Methods The data of outpatient and inpatient cost of CHD patients who were diagnosed by various hospitals from 1997 to 2001 were collected by stratified sampling method randomly, and we performed curve fitting method combined literature review to predict the medical costs of CHD. Results The increase of the medical costs was influenced by several factors jointly, includes the inflated cost of each case, increased prevalence of CHD, population inflation and increased utilization of medical service. Conclusion Like all chronic diseases, controlling the costs of CHD should depend on the decrease of incidence and prevalence of the disease.
