The present invention relates to a gas monitoring flying robot and a control method therefor. The gas monitoring flying robot comprises: a propeller (100) which is provided in the upper part of a main body and controls flight of the main body by a rotational force according to the driving of a motor; an image capturing unit (200) which is provided in the main body and takes an image of an object to be monitored; a sensing unit (300) which is provided in the main body and detects gas or radioactivity leaked from the object to be monitored; and a control unit (400) which sends a taken image and sensed detection data to a monitoring server (S) located at a remote place. According to the present invention as above, the flying robot equipped with a gas detecting means and an image capturing means is remotely controlled to monitor whether gas or radioactivity is leaked from the object to be monitored at a remote place in real time, and to remotely control the flight of multiple monitoring robots, thereby minimizing monitoring blanks for the object to be monitored.
