A fistulous communication between the right pulmonary artery and the left atrium

1983
Direct communication between the right pulmonary artery and the left atrium is a rare condition. It has very typical clinical features and can be diagnosed by cardiac catheterisation and angiography. Surgical correction is required as these patients are prone to develop cerebral emboli. Operative correction using cardiopulmonary bypass has improved the results of surgery.
