Alkylation of tetrazoles with 1-chloromethyl-2-nitroguanidine

The base-mediated reactions of 1-chloromethyl-2-nitroguanidine with a series of tetrazoles in different solvents were studied. 1-[(5-Methyl-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)methyl]-2-nitroguanidine, 1-[(5-amino-1H-tetrazol-1-yl)methyl]-2-nitroguanidine, and 2-nitro-1-[(1H-tetrazol-1-yl)-methyl]guanidine were synthesized for the first time.
