Relations Between Perceived Social Support,Self-Esteem and Mental Health in Sophomores

To examine the relations of perceived social support self-esteem and mental health in sophomores, the self-report data were collected from 517 sophomores by using Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS),Self-Esteem Scale(SES) and symptom Checklist 90(SCL - 90).Results showed that the positive rate of serious problem was 5,03%,and the main symptoms were obsessive-compulsive,interpersonal sensitivity and hostility.The self-esteem and perceived social support were negatively related with each factor of SCL-90(P0.01),the self-esteem was positively related to their perceived social support. The higher of the level of self-esteem and perceived social support,the condition of mental health was better in sophomores;the more serious problem in the sophomores with lower of the level of self-esteem and perceived social support.
