THE MINERAL SCHWERTMANNITE FOUND IN CHINA AND ITS CHARACTERISTICS

Schwertmannite was found in the sediment of acid mine drainage from the Malan coal mine,Shanxi Province,China.Based on the methods of XRD,SEM-EDX,XRF,FT-IR,DTA-TG and grain analysis,the results show that schwertmannite with acerate burr on its surface is round or elliptic in shape and 0.3-70 μm in size.It is homogeneous with a surface area of BET of 44.065 0 m~(2)/g.The chemical formulaof schwertmannite is Fe_(8)O_(8)(OH)_(4.52)(SO_(4))_(1.74)·4.73(H_(2)O.)
