Corrosion-Electrochemical Properties of αFe + Fe 3 C + TiC Nanocomposites in Neutral Environments
2011
The corrosion-electrochemical properties of αFe + Fe 3 C + TiC threephase nanocrystalline composites in borate solutions with pH 6.3-9.0 both with and without NaCl are studied. αFe + Fe3C + TiC composites are found to have heightened resistances at activeoxidation potentials of αFe and cementite due to the formation of xFeO ⋅ yTiO 2 mixed surface oxides. The protective properties of passive films based on xFeO ⋅ yTiO 2 and their resistance to local activation are worse than those of Fe3O4/γFe 2O3 (γFeOOH) passive films formed on iron and αFe + Fe 3 C composites.
