This high-frequency communication device reduces power consumption and shortens latency between after discovery of a communication target and start of directional communication. In the device: an image processing unit (102) calculates the direction of existence of a communication target candidate on the basis of a captured image in which the communication target candidate has been captured; and a control unit (103), on the basis of the direction of existence, calculates a beam-forming wait and assesses whether or not communication is possible with the communication target candidate, and sets the calculated beam-forming wait for a wireless communication unit (104) before activation of the unit. Thereby, on the basis of the direction of existence of the communication target candidate which has been acquired by the image processing, the possibility of communication with the communication target candidate is determined, and therefore, it is possible to determine the possibility of communication without activating the wireless communication unit.
