Imaginários Geopolíticos no México a partir da Grande Guerra de 1917

2018
Although there have been few reflections on the interconnection between the events of the Great War and the local events in Mexico, especially in economic terms, there are even less focus on its symbolical and cultural impact. We believe that the relations between The United States and Latin America (particularly with Mexico) were permanently strained, leaving undeniable cultural imprints of distrust, resentment and fear; as well as of consideration and seduction between the two regions that have contributed to the establishment of ambivalent perceptions of them both over 100 years. In analytical terms, geopolitical imaginary is when we relate cultural-identity processes with specific historical events, situating them as triggers of feelings and collectively latent perceptions which allow us to understand actions, reactions and daily practices of a group, people or communities.
