Social Sustainability in Passenger Transport

Delivering sustainability in the transport sector requires assessment and response to transport related economic, environmental and social factors such as social impact and equity. It is therefore important to have some understanding of the equity implications of transport activities between different groups in society. This paper helps to highlight this issue by examining a range of transport cost indicators and associated issues between different geographical regions in Sydney. This will help to give some understanding on data needs and issues for future work toward socially sustainable transport.
