Hodoscopic scintillation gamma spectrometers with light-guide spectrum mixers

1986
This paper studies the average amplitude (response) and energy resolution of gamma spectrometers with three different light-guide spectrum-mixer configurations as functions of the shower coordinate. The uniformities of the response and energy resolution of the gamma spectrometers in regions adjacent to the light-guide spectrum mixers are chiefly determined by the Chereukov radiation of the charged component of the shower in the light guides themselves. The measured dependence of detector energy resolution on the coordinate x of the point of entry of electrons with an energy of 26 GeV into the spectrometer as well as the resolution contributions of the factors examined and their total effect are shown. The good agreement between the experimental and calculated data is noted.
