LA FAMILIA ACRIDIDAE (ORTHOPTERA: ACRIDOIDEA) Y SU IMPACTO EN LA AGRICULTURA EN PANAMÁ

2021
The family Acrididae are among the most important insects in the world, within natural and agricultural ecosystems. However, the knowledge of the family Acrididae in Panama has been oriented towards basic studies of biology and taxonomy exclusively, excluding research in agroecosystems has been limited. From the studies carried out, 86,96% of the species present are of ecological importance and 13,04% of the species of agricultural interest. Therefore, it is important to know the favorable conditions for the development of populations of Acrididae species in the Agroecosystems in Panama. In this way, the integrated management program for Acrididae species will be strengthened, with the potential to cause damage to crops that are important for the country’s food security. Therefore, the objective of this bibliographic review was to integrate relevant information to species of the family Acrididae reported for Panama, which reduce the production of important agricultural items.
