Childhood attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder:

2017
Childhood attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder of largely genetic origin; it can become evident in the preschool years, but usually it presents in the 6–11-year age range. It is usually associated with comorbid antisocial behaviour and other specific neurodevelopmental problems. This article outlines the conceptual issues relevant to the diagnosis and the process of referral for assessment. Shared care is recommended, and therefore the medications used and other issues likely to be raised with GPs by parents and patients are discussed in some detail.
