Voltage impact mitigation by smart inverter control for PV integration at distribution networks

Development of renewable energies is highly promoting, the penetration of it, compare to the various power generations, is thus risen accordingly. Therefore, it becomes difficult to control the voltages when the integration of these renewable energies into the electric networks. In this paper, the simulation study of a 11.4 kV islanded distribution network with integrates PV generations is investigated. Firstly, voltage impact on the studied distribution network without considering any control means is discussed; then, the using of smart inverter with voltage/var control is proposed for improving. Simulations are implemented by MATLAB/Simulink to validate the performance of proposed control models and method.
