Unerwarteter klinischer Verlauf eines Keratoakanthoms

1995
Patient A 67-year-old man suffered from a tumor of the right upper eyelid. Initially a chalazion was suspected, but the lesion developed central indentation and infiltrated the whole eyelid within three weeks. Methods A biopsy was taken in another clinic. A keratoacanthoma was diagnosed, however a squamous cell carcinoma could not be excluded definitely. Because of enlargement of the tumor and ulceration of the lid margin we removed the tumor completely with reconstruction of the eyelid. After one year no recurrence was observed. Conclusion A lid lesion of this size has not been described in the literature.
