The Reliability of Measurement of Postural Alignment to Assess Muscle Tone Change

1995
Summary Summary This pilot study using normal volunteers looks at inter-rater and intra-rater reliability when testing a clinical measure of postural alignment in normal subjects, using the coefficient of variation as a means of analysis. Results show the difference to be less than 5% in all tests. It is therefore, statistically significant. This indicates that the method of measuring is reliable and would be worth further investigation as a clinical measuring tool for physiotherapists working with hemiplegic patients whose muscle tone shows changes. This evaluation was conducted between August 1992 and February 1993.
