La mania ingegnosa : signification philosophique du maniérisme

2001
Ernesto Grassi (Francoise Graziani, translation) ; La mania ingegnosa: the Philosophical Meaning of Mannerism ; Rational thought has a-rational roots; the Latin term for these archaic principles is ingenium — the basis of invention, of, according to Aristotle, induction, and of rhetoric discourse. The tradition of a rationality inseparable from a rhetoric was continued by the Renaissance mannerists, and needs to be taken up and understood today.
