A method for drive control of a motor vehicle, having in its drive train, at least one locking differential with an associated differential lock, which is adjustable with respect to the working locking torque by means of an external control in the normal driving mode and is controlled in dependence on determined by means of sensors vehicle parameters and by the complete activation a manual operation of an operating element can be closed, characterized in that during a manual activation of the differential lock, the effective locking torque initially set in response to the measured vehicle parameters to a below the full locking torque lying operating locking torque, and then, if necessary, either quickly measured on the full locking torque or a function of the vehicle parameters is increased.
