The purpose of the present invention is to provide a highly precise optical distance measurement device that minimizes erroneous measurement of a non-light-receiving state in the detection of the position of an object. To this end, this optical distance measurement device comprises a light source, a sensor for receiving light reflected from an object, a light reception state detector for outputting a trigger signal corresponding to the light reception signal level of the sensor, and a position detector for detecting the position of the object from the light reception signal of the sensor. The optical distance measurement device is configured so that the signal output by the light reception state detector differs when the sensor is in a light-receiving state and when the sensor is in a non-light-receiving state.
