A novel tunable microwave filter based on carbon nanotubes varactors

2016
The interest in nano-technologies has grown considerably in the last decades due to the increasing demand for miniaturized devices in microwave transceivers. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to synthesize a reconfigurable microwave filter by using carbon nanotube-based varactors. Good filtering performance, in agreement with the desired specifications, can be achieved by applying the proper bias voltage to the filter, covering the frequency range 8–12 GHz (X-band). A detailed description of the technological constraints and manufacturing process will be provided, showing how the proposed device can be considered as an improvement towards high-performance reconfigurable microwave devices.
