Prevalência de fatores na primeira infância relacionados à gênese da obesidade em crianças atendidas em um ambulatório de Nutrição

IntroduA§A£o e Objetivo: VAirios sA£o os fatores que podem interferir no desenvolvimento da obesidade infantil. Assim, este estudo objetivou identificar a prevalAancia de fatores relacionados A  obesidade infantil, ocorridos ao nascimento e durante o primeiro ano de vida, e traA§ar o perfil de crianA§as atendidas no AmbulatA³rio de NutriA§A£o PediAitrica da Universidade Federal de Pelotas. Materiais e MA©todos: Estudo transversal de carAiter retrospectivo, realizado com crianA§as de atA© 12 anos de idade, no perA­odo de maio a julho de 2011. Foram analisados peso e idade gestacional ao nascer; oferta de outros leites, que nA£o o materno, no primeiro ano de vida; introduA§A£o da alimentaA§A£o complementar e uso de chupetas e mamadeiras. As anAilises estatA­sticas foram realizadas no Stata 9.1®,admitindo-se nA­vel de significA¢ncia estatA­stica de 5%. DiscussA£o, Resultados e ConclusA£o: Foram entrevistadas 43 crianA§as, com idade mA©dia de 7 anos e 9 meses (± 31 meses), e 93% delas tinha excesso de peso. A maioria (95,4%) das crianA§as foi amamentada, porA©m, frequentemente, de maneira nA£o exclusiva. O tempo mediano da amamentaA§A£o exclusiva foi de 4,5 (IIQ 1; 6) meses. O uso de chupetas ocorreu em 58,1% das crianA§as e a utilizaA§A£o de mamadeiras em 88,4% delas. A amostra, composta prioritariamente de crianA§as com excesso de peso, apresentou inadequaA§Aµes na alimentaA§A£o no primeiro ano de vida, principalmente com relaA§A£o ao aleitamento materno. ABSTRACTFactors related to the development of obesity in childhood noticed in a health centreIntroduction and Aim: There are several factors that can affect the development of childhood obesity. Thus, this study aimed to identify the prevalence of factors related to childhood obesity, occurring at birth and during the first year of life, and profile of children treated at the Pediatric Nutrition, Federal University of Pelotas. Materials and Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study, conducted with a child under 12 years of age, in the period from May to July 2011. Weight and gestational age at birth were analyzed; supply of other milks other than breast, in the first year of life; introduction of complementary feeding and the use of pacifiers and bottles. Statistical analyzes were performed using Stata 9.1®, assuming statistical significance level of 5%. Discussion, Results and Conclusion: 43 children with a mean age of 7 years and 9 months (± 31 months), and 93% of them was overweight were interviewed. The majority (95.4%) of the children were breastfed, though often not exclusively. The median duration of exclusive breastfeeding was 4.5 (IQR 1, 6) months. Pacifier use occurred in 58.1% of children and the use of bottles in 88.4% of them. The sample, comprised primarily of children overweight, showed inadequacies in power in the first year of life, especially with respect to breastfeeding.
