The last few decades of accelerated postcolonial modernization in Singapore have created a highly educated polity. Recent developments in the country’s transition to the new knowledge and creative economy have also witnessed the rise of a media-savvy and entrepreneurial population. As new cultural economic policies have appropriated the technologies of sex, sexuality and gender to envision the contemporary nation state, women in Singapore have been at the forefront and been the beneficiaries of these changes.
