Oxidative addition of arylhydrazonoyl and benzylsulphonyl chlorides to transition metal complexes
1980
Abstract The complexes (M = Pd, Pt; R 1 = COCH 3 , COOC 2 H 5 ;R 2 = p -CH 3 OC 6 H 4 ) have been obtained by reaction of arylhydrazonoyl chlorides with Pd(PPh 3 ) 4 and Pt(PPh 3 ) 3 . In the presence of excess PPh 3 , Pt(PPh 3 ) 3 acts as a base and allows the formation of the arylazomethylen-triphenylphosphoranes, . Sulphinato-S complexes, M(PPh 3 ) 2 Cl(SO 2 CH 2 R 3 ), Rh(PPh 3 ) 2 Cl 2 (SO 2 CH 2 R 3 ) and Ir(PPh 3 ) 2 COCl 2 (SO 2 CH 2 R 3 ) (M = Pd; Pt; R 3 = H, p -CH 3 C 6 H 4 , p -NO 2 C 6 H 4 ) are formed by reaction of the appropriate sulphonyl chlorides with Pd(PPh[ 3 ) 4 , Pt(PPh 3 ) 3 , Rh(PPh 3 ) 3 Cl and trans -IrCl(CO)(PPh 3 ) 2 , respectively. The reactions of the new complexes with various bases have been studied, but in no case was a clean dehydrohalogenation observed.
