Effect of Conducting Carbon Black on Heat Shrinkability, Mechanical, Electrical and Rheological properties of LDPE and EVA blends.

2013
Effect of the cross linking agent on the polymer blend and the mechanical and electrical properties of LPDE/EVA blend had been investigated. It was found out that as the percentage loading of carbon black (conducting grade) increases there was an eventual decrease in the heat shrinkability.Mechanical properties like tensile strength showed an increase with the increase in filler content, i.e. carbon black. Elongation at break showed a decrease up to an extend slowly and after excessive loading it showed a decline drastically. The dielectric constant seemed to increase with the loading of conducting carbon black. It was also investigated that as the loading percentage of conducting carbon black increases, a low volume resistivity value (ohm-cm) was found out because of the percolation concentration. The rheology tests, storage modulus against strain amplitude % showed a gradual decrease with the increase in carbon black loading which helped in studying the deformation inside the polymer networks.
