EPDM halogen-free flame-retardant rubber for wires and cables

2014
The invention discloses EPDM halogen-free flame-retardant rubber for wires and cables. The EPDM halogen-free flame-retardant rubber comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 90-110 parts of isoprene, 100-200 parts of EPDM rubber, 3-7 parts of white carbon black, 20-30 parts of SEBS, 25-50 parts of TMT, and 25-15 parts of nano-Mg(OH)2. A preparation method comprises the following steps: (1) the SEBS is put into a pulverizer to be grinded to 100 mesh; (2) the SEBS processed in the step (1) and other ingredients are put into a blender for mixing uniformly; (3) high-pressure polymerization reaction: the temperature of a reaction kettle is 100 DEG C, vacuum pumping is performed, N2 is used for displacement so as to enable the reaction kettle to be empty, and raw material processed in the step (2) is fed in, a binary catalyst system is added, and quick reaction is performed to generate a finished product; (4) the finished product obtained in the step (3) is put into a rubbing mill so as to be milled into slices; (5) granulation: the finished product obtained in the step (4) is processed to be granular; (6) cooling: cooling is performed at room temperature. The EPDM halogen-free flame-retardant rubber disclosed by the invention has a flexible physical property required by the wires and cables, and has an excellent flame-retardant chemical property.
