2010
Objective:To understand the status of extra-marital sexual behavior and related factors among drug users in Nanning City. Methods:An investigation was conducted on the HIV/AIDS prevention knowledge and high risk behavior among 781 drug users who came from local community and drug rehabilitation centers with an anonymous questionnaire. Results:Theratesofhavingsexualintercourse with casual partner and commercial sex workers(CSWs) among the investigated drug users were up to 40.1% and 15.0%,respectively in the past year.Drug users who were male, young and unmarried/living alone were more likely to have extra-marital sexual behavior.IDUs who shared needles and syringes with others were more likely to have sexual intercourse with both casual partners and CSWs.47.6% and 37.6% drug users never used condoms when they had sexual intercourse with casual partners and CSWs,respectively.Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that gender, age, marital status, sharing needles and syringes or not,HIV/AIDS-prevention knowledge achievements were significant factors for having sexual intercourse with casual partners. For having sexual intercourse with CSWs,the significant factors were gender, age, age of initial injection drug use, sharing needles and syringes or not. Conclusion:Stable marriage life can help drug users to reduce sexual intercourse with casual partners. However,it didn't work when refer to CSWs.Sharing needles and syringes is a significant factor for increasing sexual intercourse with casual partners and CSWs.Having HIV/AIDS-prevention knowledge dose not mean less extra-marital sexual behavior.Besides HIV/AIDS-related knowledge training, intervention aimed at high risk behavior should be more emphasized among drug users.
