Basic Biological Sciences Demonstration of Fibronectin as a Major Extracellular Protein of Human Gingival Fibroblasts

1980
A major extracellular protein of cultured adult human gingival fibroblasts was shown to be fibronectin by indirect immunofluorescence, lactoperoxidase catalyzed iodination and metabolic radiolabeling. Fibronectin preparations from these cells possessed the biological properties of agglutination of sheep red blood cells and promotion of cell adhesion to a collagen substrate.Received for publication December 18, 1978. Accepted for publication May 21, 1979.
