Improvement on reflection performance of primary radiator using vertical strip transmission line at 60GHz

2011
A structure of a primary radiator using a vertical strip transmission line was devised for use in the slit array antenna at 60 GHz. The vertical strip transmission line consists of the strip line on a dielectric substrate on which an L-shaped pattern was etched to generate the radiating TEM-wave from the non-radiating TEM-wave. Furthermore the end of strip line was bended to 90 degrees and extended so as to decrease reflection characteristics. At first, the length of the strip line was decided by calculating the reflection characteristics. Next, to improve the radiation pattern, we deformed the reflection plate. It was confirmed that this radiator would be suitable for applications to the primary radiator for use in the millimeter-wave planar antennas.
