Auger CVV spectra as a probe of the electronic structure of metallic glasses
1982
Additional data on the Auger KVV spectra of Be and B in the Fe82B18−xBex ferromagnetic metallic glass system are presented. A weak but sharp peak in the B KVV spectra of the ternary alloys is identified with a Fe–B bonding state that is also present in the binary Fe–B metallic glass system. In addition to the previously reported 14‐eV shift in the Be KVV energy for x?4 a narrowing of the linewidth of this transition from 8 to 5 eV is reported for the same composition range. Several models are considered to explain the unusual Be KVV Auger results for the ternary Fe–B–Be metallic glass system.
