The Discovery of Bound Iron–Sulfur Clusters in Photosystem I by EPR Spectroscopy

Summary The discovery of bound iron‐sulfur proteins in chloroplast membranes was made in 1971 using EPR spectroscopy. This chapter describes the events leading up to that discovery and the conclusions drawn concerning the structure and function of these proteins.
